Lawn Mower Troubleshooting
You rely on your lawn mower to keep your grass looking neat and tidy all through the year. But what happens if your mower starts acting up? There may be some things you can check on your own that will get your lawn mower functioning properly so that you can finish your mowing without issue. Here are a few lawn mower troubleshooting tips you can try.
1. Low or No Power
If your lawn mower starts to lose power while you’re mowing, or you feel like it’s somewhat sluggish, this can indicate a need for new filters. The filters in your lawn mower’s engine help to keep grass and other debris out of the inner workings, so you’ll want to change the air, oil, and fuel filters often to keep your engine running cleanly. You may also need to see whether a spark plug is broken.
2. Not Starting
Is your lawn mower completely failing to start? Then you may be out of gas! This simple fix is easy to forget and easy to resolve. However, if you’re certain that you’ve put gas in the mower recently, you may want to check your garage for pools of fluid that could indicate a leak in the fuel tank. If your lawn mower is electric, your battery may be out of juice and require a charge or a replacement.
3. Uneven Results
Does your yard not look quite as good as usual? Your mower’s undercarriage may be clogged up with debris that prevents the blades from cutting as cleanly. Hose out the undercarriage of your lawn mower often to prevent dried grass from building up. Another issue may simply be that the blades have become dull with frequent use and they need to be sharpened.
